Misconduct 1: Using cheap products
Many manufacturers use ordinary fertilizers such as urea and pure water to mix, resulting in the prevalence of low-priced and inferior products in the market. Low cost and inferior exhaust gas treatment fluids with excessive metal ions and impurities can cause catalyst poisoning, nozzle blockage, damage to SCR systems and even engines.
Although automotive urea is also urea, it is vastly different from agricultural urea. Automotive urea has strict proportioning requirements, consisting of 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. One of the standards for high and low quality is strict impurity control. However, there are many impurities such as particulate matter, metal ions, and minerals in agricultural urea, which pose a significant threat. There are strict requirements for concentration control, acidity and alkalinity, and reduction of impurities in automotive urea. For agricultural urea, the amount of phosphate, biuret, formaldehyde, and other insoluble substances can be diluted and ignored, but biuret and formaldehyde are fatal to SCR systems. Among them, urea and formaldehyde in agricultural urea will be converted into insoluble impurities such as melamine after high temperature, which is more severe than ordinary scale. Therefore, urea and formaldehyde are referred to as poisons in the automotive urea industry, and repairing SCR systems after poisoning is very difficult.
